Short Term OpportunitiesThe Babraham Institute welcomes expressions of interest in summer research placements for undergraduates in the middle years of their first degree, to enable students to gain first-hand experience of laboratory research during the summer vacation. Placements are usually six to ten weeks in duration.
Please visit the Research pages for information on our research areas and select Group Leaders whose research topics interest you the most (up to a maximum of four in the first instance). Please submit your CV and covering letter directly to Group Leaders, asking if they have availability in their laboratory and if they would be willing to complete a bursary application form together with you to apply for a student stipend (which usually also requires a supporting statement be completed by your tutor which you will need to arrange). Most closing dates for bursary applications are in early February unless indicated otherwise.
Note: The Babraham Institute is currently unable to provide financial support for undergraduate summer students, however the following organisations have bursaries available, providing a stipend of approximately £180 per week (please note that the funding application processes are competitive, so you will need a good CV):
