Mike is the Public Engagement Manager working on the Institute’s adult and community engagement programmes. He coordinates and supports projects that enable two-way engagement between Institute research and public audiences. Mike’s work focuses on establishing strong links between the Institute and communities whilst embedding inclusive practices to enable greater access of our programmes for audiences traditionally underserved by engagement programmes.
Mike joined the institute in July 2020. Previously he worked in the public engagement team at the Wellcome Genome Campus leading on work to engage underserved audiences with education and community events. Mike began working in the public engagement sector after completing a PhD from the University of East Anglia. During his PhD he helped establish the Norwich branch of the British Science Association which has since become the Norfolk and Norwich Science Association - an independent volunteer organisation for promoting science communication in the region. Additionally, Mike is an annual guest lecturer on the University of East Anglia undergraduate science communication module for third year students.
