Panagiotis Barmpoutis

Panagiotis Barmpoutis is a Senior Research Data Scientist at the Babraham Institute. He holds a B.Eng./M.Eng. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2009), along with MSc degrees in Forestry Informatics (2012) and Medical Informatics (2013). He earned his PhD in the field of Software Engineering and Machine Learning in 2017, focusing on challenges in Forestry Informatics. Throughout his career, he has held research fellow and senior research positions at leading institutions, including Centre for Research & Technology Hellas, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Imperial College London, RISA Sicherheitsanalysen GmbH, University College London, and Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital.

His research interests include machine and deep learning, signal processing, computer vision, image and video processing, 3D modeling, and data analysis & visualization, with applications in Medicine, Environment, and Energy. He has co-authored over 60 highly cited publications and contributed to more than ten national and European-funded research projects. Additionally, he has played a key role in five successful research proposals as Principal Investigator, Co-Investigator, and Collaborator. His latest work as Co-Investigator focuses on machine learning recognition and analysis of mature Tertiary Lymphoid Structures in histology images at the Babraham Institute.
