Sasha is the Public Engagement Officer working on the Institute’s schools engagement programmes. She coordinates projects and events allowing young people and their teachers to experience life sciences research and discover the amazing array of career opportunities available. Sasha’s work also includes supporting Institute researchers to share their knowledge and passion for research, implementing activities such as laboratory-based projects, experimental games and online experiences. Her interests include evolution, ecology, conservation and equitable access to STEM education.
Sasha joined the Institute in September 2023. Previously she worked as a qualified science teacher in a state secondary school. In 2010, Sasha began her public engagement career as a science educator and presenter at Science Museum and Natural History Museum in London, where she led hands-on science experiences for a diverse range of audiences. She also joined the LEARN CitSci team– coordinating a Science Learning + research project, investigating environmental science learning outcomes for young people participating in Citizen Science. Her previous work also includes project management in widening participation, outreach and environmental action programmes for underserved audiences.
