Step into our Science: how animals can help scientists explore human health and ageing

Step into our Science: how animals can help scientists explore human health and ageing

We are opening up our Biological Support Unit (BSU) to the public to explore from the comfort of their homes!

This newly developed 360o tour allows you to step into our building and explore how our research involving the use of mice is carried out.

•    Learn about the regulations and protections in place to ensure animal welfare is at the heart of our work.

•    Discover how people and equipment get in and out this state-of-the-art facility without introducing germs to our animals.

•    Explore how this important work supports the Babraham Institute’s work to better understand human ageing and lay the groundwork for future treatments to promote better health span for all.

You can access this on-demand virtual tour from a PC, laptop, phone, tablet, or even through a VR headset. Just follow the link to our site to start your journey through our Institute.

We also have a number of suggested guided routes on the website to help you focus your exploration!

The tour and all resources will open and run throughout the festival from the 19th March through to 4th April.

Check back then to access or fill out this form to be notified as soon as it's available.

This tour is appropriate for ages 14+ and is also perfect for school groups looking to explore different areas and careers in bioscience.

The Babraham Institute is a life science research institute dedicated to making the fundamental discoveries needed to maintain health and improve wellbeing throughout life. Our ground-breaking research in human biology sparks the innovative advances that will improve and protect lifelong health.

We are committed to being open about our science, including listening to concerns and participating in dialogue about the process of our research and its eventual applications, and to undertaking our research responsibly. Above all, we are passionate about what we do, and about undertaking research and acting in a way that makes a difference.
