Research Assistant

Next Generation Sequencing Facility

We are looking for a highly motivated Research Assistant with solid training experience to join the Babraham Institute Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Facility at a time of an exciting expansion phase. The work of the Facility includes sequencing library preparation and analysis of samples for transcriptomic and epigenomic studies.
 
The successful applicant will receive all training associated with the workflow and work in close collaboration with the Facility Manager, the Bioinformatics team and Babraham Group Leaders engaged in various NGS projects. We have a number of state-of-the-art liquid handling, quality control and high-throughput sequencing instruments, and the postholder will be in charge of sample preparation, quality control and general supervision and running of the sophisticated equipment.
 
The ideal candidate must have a degree (or equivalent) in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry or related areas, with excellent laboratory skills in these fields. A high level of accuracy  and attention to detail are necessary to be successful in this role Experience in NGS technology and its application as well as laboratory automation is highly desirable .

Starting salary is £25,795 per annum to £27,090 per annum depending on experience.
