The post holder will be responsible for the successful implementation of a new Scanning Electron Microscope/Focussed Ion Beam (FIB SEM) capability, supporting all aspects of this technology within the Facility. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to expand their experience in electron microscopy to include some of the latest 3D EM imaging technology.
Candidates will have extensive experience working with SEMs in a biological sciences context developing methods, preparing samples, acquiring images and analysing data.  The ideal candidate will also have experience with correlative imaging approaches, working in areas of science relevant to the Institute and have a strong desire to work in a multi-user environment supporting a diverse range of research projects. 
Experience operating a FIB SEM would be advantageous but is not required, as full training on the instrument will be provided. 
Funding for this position is available for four years in the first instance.

Starting salary is £30,751 per annum to £39,005 per annum depending on experience.
