Anup hails from Northern India. He completed his PhD in epigenetic regulation of key cell cycle regulators and their deregulation by Hepatitis B virus X protein at ICGEB in New Delhi. After completing his PhD, Anup moved to the MD Anderson Cancer Centre to study role of histone and non-histone protein methylation in stem cell biology. Then he joined Imperial College London to study the role of APOBEC3B in breast cancer pathogenesis. He is very keen in understanding the molecular mechanism of epigenetic regulation in cancer and early embryonic development.
In the Christophorou lab, Anup is using biochemical, genetic and molecular methods to understand the regulation of DNA methylation machinery by PADI4 enzyme in pluripotency and stem cell biology.
