Chromos at ZKM 'Open Codes' ExhibitionThe Babraham Institute's first-ever collaborative virtual reality project, Chromos, is now available to view as part of the ZKM, Center for Media and Art, 'Open Codes' exhibition. The free-entry exhibtion runs from Friday 20th October 2017 to Sunday 5th August 2018.
From binary code, to Morse code, to the genetic code, we live in a world of codes. 'Open Codes' is a collection of artworks and scientific works that gives you the opportunity to understand the world. The exhibit will be a mix of 'laboratory and lounge', with unusual formats and creative new approaches to knowledge sharing and learning.
Chromos is the result of a scientific and artisitic collaboration between researchers Mikhail Spivakov and Csilla Varnai, with visual artist and mathematician Andy Lomas and music producer Max Cooper. The virtual reality experience, video and music piece explores the beautiful dynamic nature of how our genetic code, DNA, is packaged, stored and accessed inside our cells.
