Athena Swan Seminar - "Peer mentoring"
Continuing our Athena Swan Seminar Series, the Institute will be hosting Dr Tennie Videler from Cambridge AWiSE.
Dr Tennie Videler, steering group member of Cambridge Association for Women in Science and Engineering (CamAWiSE) will introduce both CamAWiSE and the idea of peer mentoring.
About the Speaker:
Tennie studied Chemistry at the Universiteit Leiden, Netherlands, which then led to a PhD research project in the UK investigating the interface between chemistry and biology. Having a passion for both science and people, Tennie became a programme manager for Vitae - a national careers organisation specialising in the careers and development of researchers.
Tennie is a Steering group member of Cambridge AWiSE and also the coordinator for the Cambridge Immunology Network which aims to bring together researchers from across Cambridge with an interest in all different aspects of immunology. She organises among other things a website, seminar series, the Immunology PhD and postdoc day and the annual Immunology Forum.
Cambridge AWiSE is a regional network for women in science, engineering and technology (SET) in both industry and academia and for women who wish to return to a SET career after a break. They bring together women with common interests and act as a source of support, information and inspiration. They aim to help women stay in SET and make the most of their careers. They provide regular talks, workshops, networking opportunities and information through their website and newsletter.
