Dr Katy Evans-Roberts
Part of the Knowledge Exchange and Commercialisation (KEC) team, Katy is the Commercialisation Manager at Babraham Institute Enterprise Ltd, the wholly-owned trading subsidiary of the Babraham Institute. In this role Katy is responsible for managing the Institute's patent portfolio and commercialising new Babraham technologies through licensing agreements or spinning out new companies. She also helps to promote collaborations between the Institute and industry, and facilitates access to the Institute's scientific services and expertise.
Prior to starting her role at Babraham in 2010, Katy worked for Health Enterprise East Ltd (an NHS Innovation Hub), where she assisted NHS Trusts with protecting and exploiting their intellectual property relating to novel medical technologies. Katy holds a Ph.D. in molecular biology and biochemistry from the John Innes Centre in Norwich, and an MA in Biological Sciences from St. Peter's College, University of Oxford. Katy's scientific background includes researching the role of DNA gyrase (a bacterial topoisomerase) in plants, and also working on a novel virus-based expression system.
