Prof. David Kipling

Is Chair of the Science and Impact Advisory Committee."    "David Kipling originally trained as a Zoologist.  After completing a DPhil in the Zoology Department at The University of Oxford he moved to the MRC Human Genetics Unit in Edinburgh as a Post-Doctoral Researcher.  In 1997 he took up a permanent academic position in the School of Medicine at Cardiff University and was promoted to a personal Chair some five years later.  David’s research group studies the fundamental processes underpinning human ageing, with a particular interest in telomeres and replicative senescence.  He was the academic coordinator of two BBSRC funding initiatives on the biology of ageing.

David is a Trustee of the British Society for Research on Ageing, the first scientific body to be concerned specifically with gerontology as a scientific discipline.
